Spine Pain

Debilitating spine and back pain is our primary specialty. Spine and back pain can keep you from doing even the simplest of tasks. Individuals come to us, often as a last resort, to find relief and a plan to get them back to enjoying their lives.

Head & Neck

Head and neck pain can prevent you from successfully navigating the needs of every day life. Severe pain in these areas can also keep you from getting the rest your body requires. We treat patients with head and neck pain on a regular basis and find success in providing them with relief.

Back & Leg

Your legs and back are primary components to getting around and having a mobile and active life. The lack of mobility reduces your overall quality of life and can drastically shorten your overall life expectancy. Our doctors and staff recognize the importance of having an active lifestyle and we have treatment options available to get you back on your feet.

Headaches

Headaches and migraines can quickly take you out of commission. We see and treat patients with varying degrees of headaches, providing safe and effective means for dealing with, and preventing, future occurrences.

Nerve Damage

Nerve damage is slow to heal and very often can't be repaired. Despite this, we treat people with nerve damage and are able to provide relief to the pain and other symptoms that they often experience.

Muscle & Joint Pain

Muscle and joint pains can quickly take you from an active lifestyle to being down and out. The lack of activity can result in additional complications including muscle loss, depression, and bone or cartilage damage. Establishing a solution to the pain is key to preventing additional complications and getting you back into your active routine.

Chronic Pain

Chronic pain, such as pain that results from cancer or other serious health conditions, can be treated. Our doctors and nurse practitioners will partner with you and your other doctors to get a plan in place that works with existing medications and treatments.

Nerve blocks, or neural blockades, are procedures that can help prevent or manage many different types of pain. They are often injections of medicines that block pain from specific nerves. They can be used for pain relief as well as total loss of feeling if needed for surgery.

Spinal injections involve injecting an anesthetic and/or an anti-inflammatory medication, such as a steroid (cortisone), near the affected nerve. The needle is placed into the epidural space, which is located just outside of the membrane that protects the spinal cord. The medication reduces the inflammation and lessens or resolves the pain.

Facet joint injections are used to alleviate symptoms of Facet syndrome, one of the leading causes of lower back pain.  This is an outpatient procedure that can typically be done within a 30 minute time period.

Radiofrequency Ablation is a medical procedure in which part of the electrical conduction system of the heart, tumor, or other dysfunctional tissue is removed using the heat generated from a medium radio frequency.  RFA is generally conducted in an outpatient setting.

Disc, or Spinal, Decompression is the relief of pressure on the spinal cord or on one or more compressed nerve roots passing through or exiting the spinal column.  It has a high success rate of providing long-term relief and pain management.

Spinal cord stimulation delivers mild electrical impulses to the spinal cord that interrupt pain signals to the brain, replacing them with a tingling sensation. These impulses are generated by a small device that is implanted under your skin.

Vertebroplasty is a minimally invasive procedure in which a special cement is injected into a fractured vertebra.  A successful procedure will relieve your spinal pain and restore mobility.

Like vertebroplasty, kyphoplasty injects special cement into your vertebrae — with the additional step of creating space for the treatment with a balloon-like device (balloon vertebroplasty). Kyphoplasty can restore a damaged vertebra’s height and can relieve pain.

EMG (Electromyography) & NCS (Nerve Conduction Studies)

This is a specialized electrical test of your muscles and nerves.  It consists of two parts. First NCS (Nerve Conduction Study) is performed by a technologist using a small electrical impulse to stimulate the nerve and record the response from nerve/ muscle. Then the second part is called EMG or electromyography, which consists of a needle exam (very small, thin needle inserted into your muscles to record electrical activity) performed by the physician. The EMG part is performed in conjunction with NCS and is not always needed. Your physician’s request for the type of the test and your exam determines the need and extent of the testing.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a sample of blood plasma that contains up to eight times the normal amount of platelets. PRP therapy uses injections of a patient’s own platelets to accelerate healing of injured tendons, ligaments, muscles, and joints. The platelets contain growth factors that can trigger cell proliferation, speed healing, and stimulate tissue regeneration in the treated area.  PRP can be an effective treatment for arthritis pain, tendon damage, tendonitis, and other muscle injuries.
